a summer for seventeen

::The Big Q
"Can you style for us?" those were Mon's exact words several minutes after I showed my portfolio to seventeen's ed team. "We wanna see what you can do...It's gonna be this Thursday." she added. "Great! I'll do it!" I said, it was a Wednesday (take note) and my thoughts started to rumble with my to-do list. She gave me pointers, the concept and told me the stores where I could pull-out. I knew then that that week, things would be one hell of an adrenaline rush. But I liked it:)

::Early Bird
Call time was at 8am in DasmariƱas village so I left home (from south) very early. Pao helped me carry my load of props and stylist's maleta. He was on his way to a job interview at 9am but he agreed to meet me at 5:45 and bring the stuff 'til we arrive at the office. After that, I was on my own.

I just got in time for the office transport which leaves at 7:20. And then off we go. Mang Bart knew the place so it was pretty easy. I noticed that traffic was a breeze too.

::Lovely House
I arrived an hour or less than the time we left. We were greeted by the housekeeper and was asked to go inside the receiving area. As I entered, I noticed the light that passed through the door's stained glass. The effect was beautiful. There were a lot of paintings and sculptures that decorated the house. Some probably antique, some modern. The indoor garden's see through roof also gave natural lighting, which made the sala more cozy and well, haha... conducive for sleeping.

The ones who make it happen
::Tatin was there already. She was our makup artist. She also seemed to be nice and friendly. In a short while, Tata (Seventeen's managing ed) arrived, the models (Iris, Camille, Maricris and Einar) next and our photographer, Christian was last.

Shoot Proper
:: Behind the scenes from the shoot...

tatin and her bag of tricks

this one's one of my favorite pulled out items. Camille wore a very summery orange knit tunic dress from yrys

Camille looked great for this layout. Her natural tan and slim figure was perfect for the photos. The blue lined banig was courtesy of me:)

Tatin gets busy with the curls:)

Maricris looked great with or without makeup:) She projected her poses flawlessly and had no bad angles. Plus, she candidly did her jumps and landed with grace (no photos for that one, sorry!)--thanks to her cheerdancing(or gymnastics) background.

(top)Girls on the sofa:) The pic on the left was a pretty difficult look to pull together. Camille and Iris had a hard (yet fun) time acting as super buds for this layout! The purple and green striped halter top Camille (on left) wore was from my personal stylist's stash. Would you believe I got that on sale for PHP90 in U Rustans?

Seventeen Managing Ed, Tata, showed the girls how it's done.

Our final layout for pretty feet. Photographer, Christian, gets down for feet shots!
::That's a wrap!

Making things happen

::Jumpstart

February 6, Monday. The dreaded as well as the sweetest day of my life. I rubbed my eyes and looked at where I was. Thinking it was a dream, I closed my eyes and opened it. It wasn't. I was in Edward dela Cuesta's studio, waiting for things to happen. My sister, who was there to assist me complained about her eyes -- she was near falling asleep. My head was too preoccupied to be feeling the need for sleep. So I resort to food instead to keep me energized for later's event.

::Getting the Feel

The previous photo shoot ended, so we were allowed to get inside. Tina, was kind enough to let us in and show the way. I got to meet our official photographer, Edward, who's just about to take his lunch. I went at the dressing room where I decided to unpack and ready my clothes line-up. Being there gave me the shivers, both from the feelings of being excited and nervous. My whole future in styling will depend in this, I thought.

::Dressing Up
Kathleen arrived looking more beautiful and glowing. I'm pretty sure she's excited and jittery too. Introductions were given, then Peps, prepped up Kat with makeup. Jen-jen, the hairstylist did wonders to her hair. I, on the other hand, was busy deciding which clothes to start with.

::On and on
There were a lot of changes with my actual line-up. But it turned out great;) It took us 8 hours to complete the whole photo session and interview. I was relieved even more when I saw Kat loosen up during the last few layouts. Everyone had a great yet tiring time. Things were wrapped up with good-byes and "looking-forward-to's".

::Believing in Me, Proud and Happy
I was on my way home feeling exhausted yet very much fulfilled. This was what I was waiting to feel for the longest time. Thanks, Kat. I couldn't have done this without you.
